We love getting our home ready for christmas. We love getting our tree, decorating, enjoying Christmas with our family etc... but what I (Amy) LOVES more than anything else is PURGING our home of Christmas. It feels new, fresh, and ready for the new year.
Yesterday (12/26) I took the decorations down, brought the tree outside, and today- finished getting the house back in order for the new year.
Tonight- a fresh (non pine scent!) candle is lit- every surface, baseboard, nook, and cranny, of this house is clean-  and my girl and I are on the couch!
I know, I have a long way to go- but after Christmas- I now look forward to SPRING!

Twilight

This photo was taken on my real camera (then I quickly snapped a photo of it with my phone as it was on the view screen of my camera- thus the quality). Still a fun perspective

We love before/afters

It's warped- but this photo gives you our whole kitchen.
Love the new panorama feature on the iPhone.

Playroom

We have one room (the third bedroom turned playroom) that needs LOTS of love. It has toys just thrown in there and has not yet been tended to at all.

Here are some thoughts for color.
A large oriental rug will be in the center (9x12) and cover most of the floor of the teeny room.

Sunset across the street

Reflecting on our windows

Patio

Sierra laid out the slate this weekend in many different patterns. We finally decided on this free flowing patio, to accommodate our furniture. This fall, we can also put our fire pit in the center, and the adirondak chairs around it for gatherings.

The slates are now taken up so Sierra can dig out our (cherished) grass and lay stone dust, put the slates back (tighter together) then fill it with bluestone between each slate.

You can see my dad, mom, and sister on the deck "supervising" :)

Ps- clearly we aren't done painting the back either!

Living room wall art

I haven't really committed to decorating our humble home. Not wanting to purchase specific things for a home we know is so temporary...
I think we will make some art for above the couch. It's a big bare wall! Here are my ideas...

Painting the back

Boy is the back in rough shape! Yesterday, Nana Nancy came to get Nia, while Sierra & I scraped and scraped and did some painting out back. We eat dinner on the (ugly) deck every night and it was bothersome to look at the ghetto in the back.
I'm certain Na had more fun than
We did yesterday, however Sierra & I did have an uninterrupted day together, including a lunch date!

Critters

Since 5:00 this morning, our back yard has been filled with critters of all kind, squeaking and tweeting away. In one bush out the kitchen window, I counted 8 birds (all different kinds!).

Love listening to them sipping my coffee...

Should we stay or should we go?!

We are almost done! Just a few more weekend projects and we could be ready to sell.
We are not sure if we will sit tight another year just to be comfortable and not move for a bit- or start a new adventure. Stay tuned!

Almost all painted!

You can really tell the difference in the evening light...
